《中文核心期刊要目总览》从2004年版开始使用“获奖或被重要检索系统收录”指标，设置这个指标的目的是吸收国内外优质的“期刊评价成果”。项目组从评价质量、权威性、影响力、覆盖面、可获取性等方面综合考虑，严选具有代表性的统计源。
