《中文核心期刊要目总览》从2004年版开始使用“获奖或被重要检索系统收录”指标，设置这个指标的目的是吸收国内外优质的“期刊评价成果”。项目组从评价质量、权威性、影响力、覆盖面、可获取性等方面综合考虑，严选具有代表性的统计源。
2023年版拟遴选的国外重要检索系统有17个，如下：

（2）若官网获取期刊列表中的期刊有改名情况，项目组会整理计算到改名后的现刊上；
